Duomo Santa Maria Assunta

The first one and definitely the most famous is the beautiful Duomo, located in the main square of town! Dedicated to San Pantaleone, it is one of the most impressive and mystic churches for your catholic wedding celebration, it was established by Bishop Orso Papicio in 1086, has been restored in the twelfth and in the eighteenth century: from the initial Romanic style, still visible from the outside, it has been turned into a Baroque Cathedral. The two pulpits are decorated with precious mosaics, and very interesting masterpieces of art can be found in the small chapels. The Duomo of Santa Maria and San Pantaleone is one of the most beautiful churches for catholic weddings in Italy.

Santa Maria a Gradillo

The smaller church of Santa Maria a Gradillo is located in a secluded area of town only a few meters walking distance from the central square of Ravello. The simple Roman Architecture and bright interiors make it an interesting venue to be decorated according to the clients' preference.

San Francesco

As you walk on the narrow path leading to one of the most picturesque villas of town — Villa Cimbrone, you find the baroque church of San Francesco d'Assisi, located in a secluded area. This church with its beautiful interior and thanks to its location, outside from the main Piazza, is ideal for couples desiring an intimate and private ceremony far from the main touristic pathways.

San Giovanni del Toro

The church of San Giovanni del Toro is over a thousand years old! Founded in 1018, this elegant church is built in Romanesque style with influences from Arabs and Normans.

The church has a Latin cross plan with three aisles ending in three apses, decorated on the exterior with intricate motives in dark stone contrasting with the white plaster. The simple and solemn façade has three gates. Its old stone pillars contrast with the ochre surface and recall the motives of the adjacent bell tower with its double-arched windows.

The monumental pulpit on the right of the main aisle is a masterpiece of the Early Middle Ages with its 4 arches supported by granite columns, its mosaics with intertwining motives, and its medieval frescoes.

Catholic wedding ceremonies in Ravello can be religious only and eventually legally binding (you can also get married in your own country prior), the ceremony is performed by a local English-speaking priest. Some couples require that the ceremony is officiated by their local priest, this is great, however, please note that according to Italian law only an Italian resident priest can perform a legally binding ceremony. All of the above-mentioned churches allow music to be played during the ceremony as long as it is classical sacred music.

The best time of the year for a catholic wedding ceremony in Ravello goes from April until October. No Catholic weddings can be celebrated on Easter week or on local festivities.
