The 5-star luxury hotel Castello di Casole is located in the Western hills of Tuscany, in an area called Località Querceto, near the quiet village of Casole d’Elsa at 45 minutes from Siena and 1 hour from Florence. It is a perfect base to visit some of the best wineries in Italy and the historical towns of Siena, Monteriggioni, Colle Val d’Elsa, Volterra and San Gimignano. Pisa airport is 1 hour and 30 minutes, Florence airport is 1 hour.

Venue description

Regally perched on a hilltop, Castello di Casole is a timeless refuge immersed in 4,200 acres of rolling hills and lush forest in the Tuscan countryside. The Castle was built in the year 998 in an oak forest. It was owned and restored between the 19th and 20th century by the aristocratic Bargagli family coming from Siena. Later was bought by Earl Edoardo Visconti who was used to organize glamorous parties with celebrities of the era at the Castle. Nowadays it is a boutique hotel that offers every comfort for an idyllic Tuscan holiday and fairytale wedding celebrations. This is a place where you can immerse yourself in culture, art, landscapes and nature. The estate includes vineyards, olive groves, fruit orchards and wheat fields.

The castle has won recognition for preservation efforts. The building retains many original architectural elements like the original chimneys, rustic wooden beams, wall colours, furnishing and paintings.

Guests can relax by the swimming pool and forget the stress with hiking, cycling or Vespa trips.

Wedding Ceremony

Castello di Casole has special permission for the celebration of civil, legally binding wedding ceremonies on its grounds. Symbolic weddings are also allowed, as well as Protestant or Jewish weddings. Catholic ceremonies instead can be celebrated in the Parish Church of Casole, at 10 minutes from the castle or in one of the Catholic Churches in Siena or S. Gimignano or some of the enchanting Romanesque Churches in the countryside.

The most requested setting for a ceremony is the enchanting Amphitheatre with gorgeous views over the Tuscan countryside. This area can hold 150 guests. Another beautiful and intimate spot for a ceremony is the San Tommaso Chapel (non-consecrated) that can hold 58 guests for a ceremony.

Wedding Reception

All the outdoor areas of the Castle are quite versatile therefore the flow of the event can be customized as couples prefer.

Couples usually choose the cloister of the castle for the welcome dinner with live stations and a casual setting.

For a Gala dinner, depending on the final number of guests, the Lemon grove terrace or the Lemon grove garden are the ideal places. The maximum capacity is 200 guests and the rental of a Marquee, in this case, is compulsory. Another beautiful terrace for smaller groups of up to 120 guests is the Tosca Terrace. The Spa terrace can hold a group of max 80 guests. Pool terrace for 20 guests seated. Terraces are not covered. Indoors, the rooms are smaller: Sala Camino up to 20 guests, San Tommaso Chapel up to 36 guests.

Cuisine

The banquet is directed by the Chef of the castle using their large equipped kitchen. Menus always include a cocktail hour, 3 or 4 courses served during dinner, the cake and the Castle wines. Menu ranges from classics such as tender carpaccio, tagliolini, gamberi in saor to the most sumptuous Tuscan specialties.

Musical entertainment

Musical entertainment is allowed till midnight. With the buy-out of the castle, it is possible to move the event inside where dancing is allowed till 2:00 am at a reduced volume. This extra time is on request and subject to an extra fee.

Accommodations

Castello di Casole has 39 beautiful rooms. 21 suites (5 Limonaia, 7 Grandiosa, 9 Oliveto) and 18 double rooms in a range of styles and sizes, all uniquely enchanting for a capacity of 78 guests. It is possible to add 1 extra bed in 20 rooms, 2 extra beds can be added in 11 rooms.
