Certaldo weddings

Panorama of Certaldo

Certaldo is one of Tuscany’s best preserved villages. The setting is magnificent, incredibly picturesque… rolling hills covered with barley fields, olive groves and cypress trees. We highly recommend a wedding in Certaldo for its secluded and intimate atmosphere, stunning views and charming setting.

Certaldo is considered one of the top wedding destinations for a Medieval wedding in Tuscany.

Of Etruscan origin, Certaldo got its name from the Latin word cerrus, which meant a hill surrounded with oaks. The town is divided in two parts, the most picturesque is Certaldo Alto, the old town, famous for being the birthplace of writer Giovanni Boccaccio, author of the collection of novellas The Decameron. The old part of town is made up by medieval houses and red brick palaces. In Certaldo you can admire the wonderful Palazzo Pretorio, the church of Santi Jacopo e Filippo and the Casa del Boccaccio which has been turned into a museum and library. Lower Certaldo is the modern suburb, a residential and industrial area.

Certaldo is a spectacular wedding destination for couples who desire to experience a real Tuscan wedding immersed in an authentic and romantic Medieval town surrounded by centuries of history,  relaxing atmosphere and welcoming people.
