The Impressive Abbey of Cervara, founded in the 14th century, is a monastic wedding venue on the Portofino promontory offering breathtaking views of the sea. It overlooks the Coast of the Dolphins, the entire Gulf of Tigullio, and partially Portofino bay. The Abbey is easily accessible from the road leading from Santa Margherita Ligure to Portofino, making it a prime location for a destination wedding in Liguria.
The monastic complex includes a consecrated church, the tower, the main building, and a monumental Italian garden for weddings. The garden is decorated with elegantly refined hedges of boxwood, surrounding a 17th-century marble fountain. The higher terrace is a splendid garden suspended between land and sea, a true treasure of art where nature offers its abundant wonders with mysterious forests of olive trees, rare botanical plants, fragrant aromatic herbs, flowery avenues, and plants leaning against the walls—a wedding venue in Liguria that feels like an earthly paradise.

Wedding ceremony and reception

 

Symbolic wedding ceremonies in Liguria can be organized in the inside court, the Wisteria Garden, or the Portofino terrace. With special permission from the local priest, it is also possible to organize Catholic ceremonies at the Abbey of Cervara in the consecrated church.
A sit-down dinner can be organized on the large panoramic terrace, in the Gardenia Garden, or on the lawn in the upper garden level, offering guests stunning views of the surrounding nature and sea.
In case of bad weather conditions, La Cervara offers plenty of indoor wedding venues for ceremonies, receptions, and dancing, with spaces available for up to 200 guests. This venue is ideal for couples looking for an exclusive destination wedding in Italy.

Accommodation

 

The Noble floor is a huge apartment with 4 exclusive suites, a large living room and private kitchen. The Suite for the Bride and Groom is separated from the main building and set in a special position with private terrace and sea view. Other exclusive rooms are in the Tower. Total number of rooms: 11

It is compulsory to book the rooms for a minimum of 3 nights to organize an event at La Cervara but is definitely recommended.

Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino offer a variety of hotels and are at only 5 minutes’ drive from La Cervara.
