This lovely retro themed destination wedding took place on the Amalfi Coast of Italy: Sarah and James got married with a civil ceremony on a Saturday in Fall season. The particular style of the bride, combined with the atmosphere of this part of Italy, with its colourful villages perched atop the cliffs, really made us enthusiastic for planning this event.

The bride took inspiration from the pinup style of the fifties. Do you remember those adorable girls with their plump red lips and provocative eyes that were so fashionable back in the forties and fifties? Well, maybe you weren’t even born yet, just like us, but their aura of freshness and enthusiasm has given them an everlasting charm.

It seems like these lovely bridesmaids have just stepped out from a vintage Coca Cola poster to hand out paper cones filled with rice.

The sleeveless wedding dress in white lace with V-neck and siren shape really embraces Sarah’s figure beautifully.

The bride chose pale pastel tones for the bouquet: pink, purple and green. The bridesmaids’ dresses in pistachio green combined perfectly with the flowers.

The civil ceremony took place in beautiful Positano, one of the most picturesque locations for a destination wedding on the Amalfi Coast.

The stationery and all the paper decor for this 50s style wedding was designed by Dotty Creations in a lovely retro fashion: table cards, seating chart, guestbook, wedding program, and even the tin can wrappers.

The menu was simple but full of typical Italian flavors

• Aperitif: Prosecco sparkling wine + finger food
• First course: Ravioli stuffed with cottage cheese and cherry tomatoes
• Main course: Pork fillet with seasonal vegetables
• Dessert: Two tiered wedding cake + Tasting of small pastries
• Limoncello
• Coffee

The two-tier ivory cake was decorated with glitter hearts and a cake topper by Not on the High Street.

The music band played traditional Italian music, the songs of Neapolitan tradition such as: O’ Sole Mio, Torna a Surriento, Santa Lucia… The lively sounds of guitar and mandolin filled the air, everybody danced and had a lot of fun!
