Vows Renewal in Puglia at Masseria Le Carrube
Deeply immersed in the Mediterranean scrub, the pure white walls of Masseria Le Carrube stand out against the pale blue sky. The tradition of whitewashing the walls of ancient buildings dates back to the middle ages and has earned the nearby historical town of Ostuni the nickname of white town: “In Ostuni houses are white, of milk and lime, they are so white they make your eyes hurt, pure white: walls, windows, doors, staircases, everything is impossibly white.”
A Welcome Cocktail for all guests was arranged in the main courtyard of the Masseria. We cooperated with Angelica of Flower Addicted to create a Flower Market setting with lots of white and pale pink flowers placed near a traditional Ape car (three-wheeler in the fifties style), which served as a drink bar. The buffet was served on an old stone table with these delicious appetizers:
• Fresh vegetables with Pinzimonio and Yogurt dip
• Black and green olives
• Cherry tomatoes
• Prosciutto cut in front of guests & cantaloupe
• Small panzerotti bites
• Pizza bites
• Small arancini
Stone and iron tables were decorated with flowers in the same pastel color palette, while the cacti vases placed around the area provided a Mediterranean atmosphere.
The ceremony took place under the luscious olive trees in the Olive Garden. The inspiration for the ceremony setting was boho-chic with a Mediterranean flavor. Tambourines, feathers and macrame dream catchers were hanging from the olive branches, fluctuating slowly in the warm wind. The traditional flower arch was replaced by a tripod decorated with pampas grass, white roses, and pink proteas.
After the ceremony, cocktail was served on the upper terrace. Succulents, pampas grass, glass and copper candleholders, and terra cotta pots formed a minimalist and sophisticated decor that blended perfectly with the white walls of the Masseria.
Dinner was served in the main courtyard with all guests gathering around a single long table. This is a tradition at Apulian banquets and it is fantastic to enjoy the banquet all together. Lunaria garlands, bunches of oregano and ears of wheat, pads of prickly pear cacti were hanging over the table, decorated with napkins in natural linen with the initials of the couple embroidered ton sur ton. The dinner menu consisted of traditional Italian recipes that used fresh local produce.
